This idea might make more sense between a motor box and hull side or if you had 3 hatches that spanned the whole deck because its a lot of tapering up if you have to do 4 sides of a hatch. on the other hand, lots of boats have a rubber mat with 3/4" step up sitting out and you learn not to trip.. In this boat, there will be a quirk, forward. the fwd hold and anchor well hatches are close, in line and near equal in size. plan is to extend the deck of the anchor well hatch aft to the hold hatch, and hinge between them. to open the anchor well, we'll flip it back onto the hold hatch, and sit on its underside while working anchor gear.. I was wondering how to make waterproof hatches for my boat. i am adding to the front deck of my 20' john boat and would like to put in 2 storage areas sort of like most boats out there with the carpeted storage hatches..
