You have just built a paddle boat! in a real paddle boat, the spinning drum of paddle boards acts as oars, pushing against the water as it rotates. paddle boats were widely used in the early 19th century as an unique form of marine transportation. a steam engine was used to drive a paddle wheel for propulsion and so they were called steamboats.. Ok, here the paddle wheel is drawn in. i used 5 pieces of 4x8 plywood. this means that the entire boat with extended deck and paddle wheel will most likely be a little less that 20' total.this will keep the boat as a class 1, any boat between 16' and 26', which determines the type of safety equipement required on board..
